The carbon-fluorine atoms bond is one of the strongest bonds in organic chemistry, meaning that PFAS do not easily break down in the environment. AB 2771 created a new prohibition, active after January 1, 2025, that will prohibit entities from manufacturing, holding or selling cosmetics with intentionally added PFAS.
