We can use NGS to better understand so-called “pharmacogenetics” so that we can predict how an individual may respond to a given treatment. However, the ligation step is biased and inefficient because the enzymes that ligate the adapters, which are DNA and RNA sequences, prefer some sRNAs that the adapters are ligated to.
