A water-soluble polysaccharide (GFP) was isolated from Grateloupia filicina and its structure was thoroughly examined. Among the polysaccharides, a purified GFP-1 significantly increased the activation of RAW264.7 cells by releasing nitric oxide (NO) and a variety of cytokines via NF-B and MAPK signaling pathways via TLR-2 and TLR-4 binding receptors.
