While the NOD-, LRR-, and pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome has been linked to obesity-associated inflammation, whether it contributes to the development or maintenance of obesity is unknown. We provide support for a direct role of saturated fatty acids, such as palmitic acid, as NLRP3 activating stimuli in obese states.

We obtained a total of 14 new compounds from peiminine and found that compound 1c has strong cytotoxicity and can inhibit cell proliferation. qRT-PCR and western blot showed that compound 1c exhibits an inhibitory effect on lung cancer, which was found to occur via inhibition of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR/NF-κB signaling pathway.
